Under the new categorization for PSL 8, Imad Wasim, who led Karachi Kings, retains his place in the Platinum category. Top-order batter Tahir Tahir has moved up to the Gold category, having played in the Silver category in the previous season.

Young all-rounder Qasim Akram has progressed from the Emerging category to be included in the Gold category. Fast bowler Mohammad Musa has moved up from the Silver category to the Gold category. All-rounder Shoaib Malik and fast bowler Mohammad Amir are listed in the Diamond category players.

Qasim Akram, Tahir Tahir, and Mohammad Musa, along with all-rounder Amir Yamin, top-order batters Sharjeel Khan, Haider Ali, and left-arm fast bowler Mir Hamza, are also included in the Gold category.

Fast bowlers Aaqib Javed and Mohammad Omar are in the Silver category. In addition to them, Muhammad Akhlaq, the wicketkeeper-batsman who played as the man of the match in Karachi Kings’ last match of the previous season, is also in the Silver category.

Irfan Khan Niazi and Faisal Akram, who became part of the Emerging category for Karachi Kings, are also included in the same category for this season.

The registration of overseas players for PSL 9 started on October 25, 2023. The PSL 2023 draft is expected to take place in mid-December, while the HBL PSL 8 will be played from February 8 to March 24.
